Who we are
This site is operated by Wine Dark, LLC. Our mailing address is 680 North Lake Shore Drive, Suite 110 - 2682, Chicago, IL 60611. You can reach us through the contact form on this site.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, the topic you select, and the message you write. When you join the list we collect your email address. When you commission a unit we collect the finish, vessel, lubricant, and engraving text you choose, together with the name, email address, and billing and shipping details you enter at checkout. Bank account details are entered on Stripe’s systems, not ours.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting platform, Framer, records aggregate, cookieless visitor statistics: page views and referrers, without advertising cookies and without following you across other websites. If you accept the cookie notice we also use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel, described under Cookies below.
Cookies and device storage
We use two optional tools that set cookies. Google Analytics 4 helps us understand how the site is used. The Meta Pixel shows us which Instagram and Facebook ads bring people here and shares information about your visit with Meta. Neither loads unless you accept the cookie notice. We use no other advertising or analytics cookies, and our visitor statistics are cookieless.
A few other things touch your browser, and all of them are strictly necessary. This site saves a flag in local storage so the founder note opens only on your first visit. It saves your answer to the cookie notice, so we do not ask you twice. And when you go through checkout, Stripe sets the cookies it needs to complete your payment, under its own terms.
Nothing from Google or Meta loads until you accept. If you decline, neither tool is installed and any cookies they set previously are cleared. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as a decline automatically and do not ask you at all. You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Because sharing data with Meta for advertising counts as sharing under California law, that same control also appears as Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. Bank account details are entered on Stripe’s systems and are never stored on our servers or seen by us. Stripe handles that data under its own privacy policy.
How we use your information
To answer your inquiry, to build and ship a commission, to send you updates you have asked to receive, to meet the tax, warranty, and record-keeping obligations of a sale, and to understand in aggregate how the site is used.
Who we share it with
Service providers who help us operate: Framer, which hosts this site and stores form submissions; Cloudflare, which relays form submissions and runs our checkout service; Stripe for checkout and payment records; SendGrid, which stores our mailing list and sends list updates; our shipping carrier; and the assembly partner who builds and packs your unit, who receives your configuration and engraving text but not your payment details. Google and Meta receive analytics and advertising data only if you accept the cookie notice. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information. The only cross-context behavioral advertising we take part in is the Meta Pixel, which runs only with your consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
How long we keep it
Inquiries are kept while your question is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Order records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax and warranty obligations. Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied to you.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from any update email using the link in that email. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
If you live in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of the sharing of your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. You can opt out of sharing by declining the cookie notice or by using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, and you may contact us with any other request.
Security
We limit access to personal information to those who need it, and we rely on Stripe for payment security and on Framer for hosting security. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
